The 2016 Riesling is a stunning example of our region’s signature variety, Riesling. It shows an aromatic and expressive nose filled with lime zest and white peach.


After an unseasonably mild winter with few cold spells, the vines emerged in early May. Fortunately the frost season was mild and the vineyards of the Finger Lakes were largely spared, making this vintage one of the best on record.  The entire growing season was one of the driest on record with extremely low rainfall which concentrated flavors and kept disease pressure very low.  The fall arrived with some rain but not enough to bring problems in the vineyard. In fact, it was a beautiful fall for Nobel Rot and our Riesling was harvested with between 5-10% botrytized fruit.

The base of the 240 Days Riesling comes from old vines on the Valois Vineyard, farmed by the Doyle family on the East side of Seneca Lake.

Spry underripe peach, citrus spray and slightly bruised apple mark the nose of this new endeavor from Constellation. Off dry in style, the palate brings a bit more ripeness to the fruit, with a mild vein of acidity offering some lift.
